Board for IT Education Standards

The first meeting of the BITES Governing Board was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Shri. S. M. Krishna on September 02, 2000 at the Vidhan Soudha. The Governing Body and patrons of BITES are a judicious mix of professionals from IT Education, the IT industry and the Government working towards bridging the gap between the IT Education imparted and the worldwide needs of IT industry.

The Governing Board currently has 3 ex officio members, 4 special invitees and 14 members. The ex officio members are: The Principal Secretary, Higher Education; the Principal Secretary, IT & BT ; and the Director of Technical Education of Karnataka. The Board members are principals of reputed technical institutions in the State of Karnataka and senior executives from some of the leading IT companies of India.

Chairman

Professor Sadagopan, Former Director of IIIT -Bangalore, is an alumnus of Madras University, India and Purdue University, USA. He taught for over 25 years at IIT Kanpur, IIM Bangalore, IIT Madras and IIIT-Bangalore, in addition to short teaching assignments at RUTGERS, USA and AIT, Bangkok. Show more

Prof S Sadagopan

Founder Director IIIT-B

He has authored seven books, several book chapters and papers. He is a Fellow of IEE (UK) and Computer Society of India. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM and AIS.

He consults widely and lectures extensively on all aspects of IT. He is and has been a member of Boards of several Universities – IIIT Dharwad, IIIT-Gwalior, IIIT Delhi, Jain University, Dayanand Sagar, Chairman –IIITD&M Kancheepuram IBAB / Corporations – Bank of India, NMDC, BEL, NSE, BEML, IRDAI to mention a few. Committees NSEIT, NESL, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Non- Executive Chairman, IDRBT Governing Council.

He serves / served as Member of Karnataka Knowledge Commission, Chief Minister's Vision Group on IT, NASSCOM Regional Council, Indian Electronics Semiconductor Association (IESA) Executive Council and ACM India Council. He was the Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Bangalore Chapter.

Co-Chairman

After his Engineering from IIT Madras, Selvan completed his management from IIM Ahmedabad and for the last 35 years has been with the IT Services Industry with varied exposure. His research work was in the HRM area.

His work experience cuts across Sales, Quality, Heading a Business Unit, HR, and Business Process Reengineering. Show more

Having been in a Leadership position for the past 20 years, he has interacted with various stakeholders - Customers, Partners, Board members, Business and Functional Heads and brings in these varied experiences.

His areas of expertise include Business, Strategy, Innovation, Digital HR, Talent Supply Chain, Artificial Intelligence for Managers and Leadership Development.

He is an advisor to Corporates as well as Academia and teaches at IIMB and SP Jain.
